Care built around the full picture — not one-size-fits-all protocols.
At MetaWell, treatment decisions are guided by your symptoms, health history, lab data, risk factors, and ongoing follow-up with a physician.
Physician-Led Evaluation
Your care begins with a physician-led review of your goals, symptoms, medical history, medications, and lab data — not an automated questionnaire that routes you toward a predetermined result. We don't treat a single number in isolation. We look at the pattern, the person, and the risk profile, and we make a clinical judgment from there.
MetaWell was founded by Dr. Paul Jackson, DO, a board-certified emergency medicine physician, and built around a simple standard: a continuous relationship with your MetaWell physician — not a rotating pool — and real clinical reasoning behind every decision.
Labs & Health History
Labs aren't just a checkbox. They help us establish your baseline, identify safety concerns before they become problems, and track how your body actually responds over time. Different services call for different panels, and some labs are repeated during treatment for monitoring.
When appropriate, your physician reviews hormones, metabolic markers, blood counts, kidney and liver function, lipids, glucose markers, and other data relevant to your specific situation. If you already have recent bloodwork, bring it — it gives your physician meaningful context to work from.
Individualized Treatment Plans
Two patients can have nearly identical lab values and still need very different care. Before any medication decision, your MetaWell physician considers your symptoms, your goals, your risk factors, your prior treatment history, and how you respond over time.
For TRT, women's hormone therapy, and GLP-1 care, dosing and plans are tailored to you — not assigned from a fixed protocol and left to run on its own.
Safety Screening
Before starting treatment, we screen for the medical history and risk factors that can make certain therapies less appropriate — cardiovascular history, relevant cancer history, clotting history, medication interactions, pregnancy considerations where relevant, and red-flag symptoms.
The safest plan isn't always the most aggressive one. It's the one that fits your actual health profile.
Ongoing Monitoring
Starting treatment is the beginning, not the destination. Your physician monitors symptoms, side effects, labs, and treatment response so your plan can be adjusted thoughtfully rather than left on autopilot.
If something isn't working the way we hoped, or your labs suggest a change is warranted, that conversation happens — and your plan changes with it.
Pharmacy Standards
Medications are prescribed through licensed U.S. pharmacies. When compounded medications are used, we prioritize pharmacy quality, clear labeling, appropriate dosing instructions, and patient education.
Availability and formulation can vary based on clinical need and pharmacy supply, and we stay transparent with you about what you're receiving and why.
When Telehealth Isn't Appropriate
Telehealth is convenient, but it isn't the right setting for every concern. Chest pain, severe shortness of breath, stroke-like symptoms, severe abdominal pain, fainting, thoughts of self-harm, or other urgent symptoms should be evaluated in person or through emergency care.
Part of responsible telehealth is recognizing when a different level of care is the safer choice — and telling you so.
Clear Pricing & Informed Consent
We want you to understand what treatment costs, what it can help with, what it won't fix, and what risks or monitoring requirements come with it — before you move forward.
Clear pricing and informed consent aren't paperwork. They're part of good medicine.
The goal is not more treatment. The goal is better-fit treatment.
Sometimes that means medication. Sometimes it means labs first. Sometimes it means adjusting a plan you're already on. And sometimes it means telling you that telehealth isn't the safest next step. We're comfortable with all four answers.
